About Fiona Martin, Principal and Director

About the Principal Consultant

Pittman & Martin is led by Fiona Martin, an organisational dynamics consultant with more than three decades of experience working with leaders, boards and organisations navigating change, complexity and uncertainty.

Fiona’s work focuses on what sits beneath the surface of organisational life, the patterns, assumptions and unspoken dynamics that quietly shape behaviour, decision-making and performance. Clients often come to her when progress has stalled, team relationships are strained, or well-intended change initiatives are not landing as expected.

She brings a rare combination of deep curiosity, practical business experience and psychological insight. Fiona is known for her ability to quickly locate the ‘grit’ in an organisation - the issues others sense but struggle to name - and to help leaders think clearly about what is really going on, without blame or defensiveness.

Fiona has designed and delivered leadership and executive education programs for Tier 1 universities, consulted to boards and senior leadership teams during periods of significant change, and worked across a wide range of sectors including professional services, education, government and not-for-profit organisations.

Her published works as a writer and author include contributing articles, papers and longer-form work on leadership, organisational dynamics and leading in turbulence. Fiona’s writing reflects the same approach as her consulting: thoughtful, direct and grounded in lived organisational experience.

Our Work with Clients

Pittman & Martin works with organisations that want to move beyond surface-level fixes and address the underlying dynamics affecting performance, culture and leadership effectiveness.

Client projects:

  • Supporting boards and executive teams to think clearly during periods of uncertainty, growth, restructuring or cultural strain

  • Helping leadership teams identify and work with hidden patterns that undermine trust, authority or accountability

  • Designing and delivering leadership programs that build reflective capacity, not just skills

  • Advising organisations where change efforts have stalled, become politicised or lost momentum

  • Working with senior leaders who carry disproportionate responsibility and need space to think, not just act

Across all engagements, the focus is on helping clients develop insight they can use - insight that leads to better decisions, stronger working relationships and more sustainable change.

Clients value the consultancy’s ability to stay with complexity, name what others avoid, and create the conditions for honest, productive work to take place. The aim is not to provide answers from outside, but to help organisations do the thinking that allows progress from the inside.
